DIY | Earrings with Beaded Tendrils

In this blog post, we show you how to make beautiful organic earrings with bead anchors using different types of beads. With this jewellery design, you can create unique jewellery with your favorite beads finished with the earring shape you like best.

Once you've got the sewing technique down, the jewelry is actually very easy to make. You can also choose the length of the earring and the structure of the beads in different sizes.

Below, our designer Charlotte shows you how to make earrings step by step, so you can make earrings exactly as shown in the pictures.

We used the following DIY components to assemble these earrings:

+ wide-eye needle or beading needle

""

You sew this earring with two needles - one needle on either end.  First, you thread 4 beads with a diameter of 2mm...

""

... and sew back through the last bead.

""

Then you place the beads in the middle of the thread ... and tighten the thread.

""

Next, you string 3 beads with a diameter of 2mm on one thread end and 2 beads with a diameter of 2mm on the other.

Sew back through the last of the 3 beads.

""

Tighten the thread.

""

Repeat this step with 2 + 3 beads ...

""

... and tighten the tread. Repeat this step one more time so that you get 4 bead circles.

""

String 2 beads with a diameter of 2mm on one thread end and 1 bead with a diameter of 2mm on the other.

Sew through the last of the 2 beads.

""

This time, you sew in a way that one thread end comes out on either side of the bead, forming a loop.

From now on, you always sew like this - forming loops.

""

Tighten the thread.

Tighten the thread ... and make the next circle in the same way - but this time with green zirconia beads.

Place the 4mm bead alternately on the left and the right side.

One more circle with green zirconia beads ...

All in all, you assemble 6 circles with green beads.

""

Finally, you make a last circle with 5 beads with a diameter of 2mm. Maybe you do not need this last circle. Whether you can omit it or not depends on the earwire you want to use the tendrils with.

Sew up the thread ends by sewing back through random beads and tie some knots for safty's sake.

Cut off the excess thread.

Connect the beaded pendant to the ear stud

Then you open the eyelet on the back of the earstud carefully, insert the last circle of beads and close the eyelet again carefully.

The tendrils with shell pearls are made in the same way as the tendrils with zirconia beads.

For this version, you sew on a closed 4mm jumpring at the top before you sew up the thread.
