Half-drilled shell pearls

Shell pearls for jewelry making

Shell pearls usually consist of a glass bead or teardrop, which is coated with a layer of genuine and durable mother-of-pearl lacquer for a high quality finish. The pearl itself is not a genuine freshwater pearl, but it has got the same beautiful colour and shimmering surface. Shell pearls are available in many colours as the mother-of-pearl lacquer can be mixed with different pigments. Shell pearl teardrops are especially popular as necklace pendants, for earrings or as bracelet charms. You can easily provide half-drilled shell pearls with an eyelet by gluing an eyepin into the hole. Then they can easily be fastened to a piece of jewelry.
