Elegant and simple jewellery featuring rings in a variety of shapes with rustic finishes is one of the season's biggest jewellery trends. At Smyks, these jewellery components are now available in round, oval and teardrop shapes, and come in silver-plated, antique gold and black gunmetal finishes.
In the examples below, we show you how to use these pendants to create earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
Earrings with teardrop-shaped rings

You'll need the following materials to make these earrings:
1 pair of earwires in gilded sterling silver
2pcs. 28mm antique gilded teardrop-shaped rings
2pcs. 35mm antique gilded teardrop-shaped rings
These earrings are easy to make as you just put both rings through the earwire and then carefully bend the pegs on the back of the earwires upwards so the rings can’t fall off.
Necklace with rings and crystal encrusted clip

You'll need the following materials to make this necklace:
1pc. 25mm antiqued gilded ring
1pc. 40mm antiqued gilded ring
1pc. clip clasp with eye and crystals
80cm faceted gunmetal ball chain
This necklace requires no tools to make. Simply attach the two rings to the clasp and close it, then thread the ball chain through the loop of the clip clasp.
A connector bead is included with every length of ball chain, making it easy to fasten the chain at the desired length.
Necklace with oval gunmetal ring

You'll need the following materials to make this necklace:
1pc. oval gunmetal ring
1pc. gilded clip clasp with eye and crystals
80cm faceted gunmetal ball chain
This necklace is just as easy to make. Simply attach the ring to the clip clasp, close the clasp, and then thread the chain through its loop.
Earrings with teardrop-shaped gunmetal rings

You'll need the following materials to make these earrings:
1 pair of earwires, oxidised sterling silver
2pcs. teardrop-shaped gunmetal rings, 28mm
These earrings couldn't be easier to make. Simply hang the ring from the ear wire.
Bracelet made of oval rings

You'll need the following materials to make this bracelet:
5pcs. long oval gunmetal rings, 22mm
2pcs. long oval rings, antiqued gilded brass, 22mm
5pcs. dark steel jumprings, 6mm
2pcs. gilded jumprings, 6mm
1pc. gilded lobster claw clasp
This bracelet is just as easy to make. Simply join the oval rings together with jumprings. Once you have reached the desired length, attach the lobster clasp to the final ring using a jumpring.
You can also add an extension chain to the opposite end of the bracelet, making the length adjustable.
Necklace with round rings

You'll need the following materials to make this necklace:
4pcs. round gunmetal rings, 25mm
2pcs. round antique gilded brass rings, 25mm
9pcs. dark steel jumprings, 6mm (the last 2 jumprings are for closing the necklace)
1pc. lobster claw clasp, 10mm
Approx. 20cm oxidised jewellery chain
This necklace is made using the same technique as the bracelet above. Simply connect the rings with jumprings. Attach the chain to each end of the necklace using the last two jumprings, and finish by adding a lobster clasp.
The finished necklace measures approximately 45 cm in length. This example is designed as a short necklace, but you can easily adjust the length to suit your own preference.
Enjoy creating your own jewellery. We hope these ideas have inspired you to experiment with these rustic ring designs and create your own unique pieces.
